"Different" is an adjective as it describes a noun, e.g. Your meal is quite different to mine.
The difference between the two is a common misconception, early renaissance is more of an older looking type of painting with less colour and more of a pastel type of affect. High renaissance is more of a modern type, but clearly not too much different, just more colour and meaning.
