This weekend I will be competing in Extemporaneous Speaking at the Speech and Debate Tournament. OR For my COM 101 class we have to deliver extemporaneous speeches tomorrow, and we will be given the prompt 5 minutes before we have to speak! OR My college professors use little to no note cards when giving one of their extemporaneous lectures. Extemporaneous typically means to speak or perform with little to no prep time. It could also mean that something has been planned in advance but uses little notes as guidance. Further, it can also mean to "make for the occasion." Like if I had an urge to decorate my room with paper snowflakes in honor of winter that would be an extemporaneous urge, haha. -ForensicsFriend

What we do here, answering these questions is using the extemporaneous method. We might have knowledge of a topic, but we answer a question with no preparation or notes, impromptu information is given off the top of our heads. Everything done in this method would be unrehearsed, or a spontaneous. Hopefully we are right, the categories were food and cooking, so I'd say you would cook in this manner. Flying by the seat of your pants-which is alot of fun in the kitchen. You can come up with alot of new flavors using this method.
