What is the best way to reach lvl 80 on world of warcraft?

If you wish to reach level 80 quickly under the changes of patch 4.0.1, the quickest way to level is by the following:

a) equip heirloom items suited for your character, at least the chest and shoulder pieces that give +10% experience each.

b) try and win the Kal'uak fishing competition on saturdays, which gives an heirloom ring that gives +5% experience.

c) have mining and herbalism as professions, or one of the two combined with skinning.

Generally, you will be following the normal questlines until level 15, when you can queue for the dungeon finder. Keep yourself queued and running dungeons. In between, while waiting for your queue to come up, run around and farm mining nodes and herbs, which will give you experience as well.

Another tactic instead of farming herbs and ores is to get skinning instead, and taking on all quests that require you to kill beasts. Kill them and skin them, and hand in the quests for additional experience between dungeon queues.

Once you have reached a high enough level (and high enough skinning, if you take that route) go to the next area, pick up all the killing quests and use them to fill up the time between dungeon wait times.

Less obvious answer:

If you do quests that are "green" in your quest log instead of doing ones that are yellow or orange, you will get them done more quickly with less down-time for restoring health, mana or recovering from death.

Therefore, if you haven't completed all the quests in Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord, work on those, and then move on to Dragonblight and Grizzly Hills, and then Zul'Drak.

You'll probably find that you're 80 by then, with a lot more quests you can continue to do for money at that point, since you don't need experience.
