The LS3 engine is a 6.2-liter (376 cubic inches) V8 engine. It is part of General Motors' LS family of engines and is known for its performance and efficiency. The LS3 features an aluminum block and heads, and it typically produces around 430 horsepower in factory specifications.
The LS3 and LS9 are both V8 engines from General Motors, but they serve different purposes. The LS3, part of the Gen IV engine family, is a naturally aspirated engine commonly found in vehicles like the Corvette and Camaro, producing around 430-480 horsepower. In contrast, the LS9 is a supercharged version, primarily used in the Corvette ZR1, delivering significantly more power, typically around 638 horsepower. The LS9's supercharger allows for higher performance and torque compared to the LS3.
The GMPP Catalog lists the weight of the LS3 crate engine at 415 pounds
