The current iMac models (aluminum and glass, introduced mid-2007) have either a 2.0GHz or 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (for 20" and 24" models), or a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme processor (for high-end 24" model).

There are different kinds of power macs, so I cannot specify the processor until I have been given the correct type of power mac described by the question above.

The original iMac was actually 'Bondi blue' in color (Blueberry came later, and was slightly different). It featured a 233MHz PowerPC G3 processor.
The iMac uses an Intel Core 2 Duo processor which is a 64 bit processor.
The G5 does not have an Intel processor it has an IBM Power PC processor.

Sims 3 will not work with a G4 iMac. The game requires a recent Mac with an Intel processor.
The processor was not meant to be removed. An industrious and careful user with a rework station could theoretically desolder it.
You cannot run the newest OS on an older iMac with the Power PC processor. It must be running on the Intel processor. You can however update an older Mac with all the updates available for that model iMac. Just click the Apple icon and choose Software Update.
Th clock speed is the processor speed. It is simply the amout of operations the processor can do per second. However if the processor has multiple cores, it will be as fast as number of cores * clock speed. Note that the processor speed is not the overall computer speed.
CrossOver requires a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor to replicate a Windows type computer. It will not work on a G5 iMac.
