Don't know about Vitaras. But Limp Mode for a Rangerover is where the overcomplicated electrical checks find a fault and to stop additional damage your car is limited to Limp Mode and can only crawl home. You need to get to a garage or find some otherway of resetting the system to start again properly. More often than not in Rangeys it's the sensors that have gone wrong and the actual car would've worked fine. So whatever error message thats causing Limp mode would need to be resolved/reset.
