Lymphocytes... more specifically T lymphocytes.
The thymus gland is the gland that produces T lymphocytes needed for fighting infections and bacteria. Without the the thymus gland the child has no way to fight foreign bacteria and viruses. Which will result in sepsis and death, In other words no thymus gland, no way to fight infections.
Thymus gland does by secreting a group of hormones called thymosins, that affect production and differentiation of certain white blood cells which are T lymphocytes
It produces lymphocytes and assists in producing immunity.
The gland produces thymosins, which are hormones that stimulate the development of antibodies. The thymus also produces T-lymphocytes which are white blood cells that fight infections and destroy abnormal cells.
