It is the force resulting from a charge, you may notice that maybe once in a while two sheets of paper stick together. This is because on is positively charged and the other negatively charged, this is static charge but is the easiest example. There are two types of magnets, electromagnets and permanent magnets, unlike permanent magnets electromagnets can be "turned of" by cutting of the electric current.

Magnetic attraction occurs as a result of the North pole of the magnet attracting the south pole of the thereby obeying the law of electrostatic attraction.

What are materials attracted by a magnet called?

It is called the magnetic force. This is a force caused by the attraction or repulsion of the magnetic fields of the materials.

What minerals have magnetic properties?

The following minerals have magnetic properties: Magnetite and hematite are ferromagnets. Ferrites and garnets are ferrimagnetic. Quartz, calcite, and mica are all magnetic. Although they have a small magnetic attraction, these minerals do not remain magnetic.

Does shape effect the magnetic repulsion between two magnets?

The further the magnets, the lesser the attraction/repulsion.

Are there any natural magnetic minerals?

This may shock you, but all matter is magnetic just to varying degrees. So yes there is. Here are the 4 levels of magnetic property's if you will. and examples of the minerals that have them.Ferromagnetism - a strong attraction to magnetic fields. examples would be Magnetite and Pyrrhotite.Paramagnetism - a weak attraction to magnetic fields. Example would be Platinum,Diamagnetism. , Bismuth Is the only mineral that is diamagnetic, meaning it is repelled from magnetic fields.Magnetism. Only a variety of one mineral acts as a magnet, generating magnetic fields on its own. This mineral is Lodestone, the magnetic variety of Magnetite, which found in only a few deposits throughout the world. Although it is only weakly magnetic, its magnetism is definitely discernible.

Why are magnets kept in the keepers?

when magnets are kept loose their magnetic power becomes weak. therefore a non magnetic substance should be kept in between of two magnets while storing them. so that there is no continuous attraction or repulsion between them.

What is the relationship between magnetic attractive force and distance?

they are inversely related. as the distance increases the magnetic attraction decreases and when the distance decreases the magnetic attraction increases.

How is electricity like magnetic attraction?

Electricity is like magnetic attraction because like charges in electricity repel similar to the way like magnetic poles repel.

What difference does distance make on the magnetic force of attraction between two magnets?

Magnetic force of attraction is invesely proportional to distance between two poles.
