In chapter 14 Hobbes outlines the two natural laws and explains contracts. The first natural law is that human must never endeavour to harm themselves, thus we should strive for peace so we can have the best chance at survival. The second law tells us that our inherent rights are transferable and if we all agree at once we can make a contract to transfer our right to a sovereign who would maintain peace.

In Chapter 14 of "Leviathan," Thomas Hobbes discusses the importance of the power of the sovereign to maintain peace and security within a society. He argues that transferring individual rights to the sovereign is necessary to prevent a state of chaos and conflict, promoting social order and stability. In the Bible did the sea serpent Leviathan swallow up Jonah?

The Book of Jonah does not mention Leviathan. In any case, scholars familiar with the biblical references to Leviathan and with similar Near Eastern creation myths, say that Leviathan was a mythical chaos monster.Additional Answer:No, Leviathan is not mentioned in Jonah. Perhaps you are confusing this with Jonah being in the belly of the fish God prepared to swallow him where he remained 3 days and 3 nights (Jonah 1:17).Leviathan is only mentioned in Job 41; Psalms 74:14; 104:26.
