The mountains to the west, part of the Blue Ridge of the Appalachians. Cold and snowy in winter, mild in summer. Beautiful vistas and rivers, some of the highest mountains east of the Rockies, including Mt Mitchell, at 6654 feet, tallest mountain east of the Mississippi. Apples and corn are top crops grown there. Animal life includes black bear, deer, bobcat, and numerous birds, reptiles, and amphibians, including some salamanders found nowhere else.
Piedmont region, rolling hills and beautiful countryside. Home of most of the state's largest cities, like Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston Salem, Raleigh and Durham. Manufacturing hub of the state. Crops include corn, tomatoes, beans, sweet potatoes, potatoes, Okra, apples and peaches, melons, tobacco. Animals include deer, bobcat, foxes, and others.
Coastal Plain, agricultural center, soybeans, peaches, corn, and most crops grow good here. Many rivers stretch seaward here, including the Cape Fear, Tar, and Neuse. Coastline beautiful beaches, great fishing. Alligators and some of the world's largest black bears live alongside red wolves, deer, foxes and others. Home to pirates like Blackbeard!
