It's fabric coated with a polythene film. The sort of thing from which waterproof tablecloths are made.
Coatings vary, as does the fabric. PVC (poly vinyl chloride) is falling out of favour gradually, as it's not very environmentally friendly, but PE (polyethylene aka polythene) and PEVA (a copolymer of polyethylene and EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) are readily available.
EVA is short for Ethylene-vinyl acetate. It has many applications, including the 2010 World Cup football.

Aloha: I corrected your question. Pe hea 'oe is how are you?
"L'éducation physique" is often abbreviated to "l'EPS" (PE in English). It is a feminine noun.

Well, to be precise, its a paper which is coated with polyethylene by extrusion coating process..... It will have a shiny appearance on the coated side but will not have gloss levels comparable to glossy or machine glazed paper.... PE Coated paper tend to curl because dead fold characteristics of this weakens due to poly coating (when compared to raw paper).......... I believe it means polyethylene paper. So I can imagine it's a glossy paper. Perhaps photo-paper?
Paper coated with either PE (polyethylene) or PLA (polyatic acid)

Metallic fibers are manufactured fibers composed of metal, plastic-coated metal, metal-coated plastic, or a core completely covered by metal. Gold and silver are the most common metallic fabrics.

Lined curtains offer the most heat insulation. They will typicall have an uncoated layer of fabric as the first layer and a seperated coated fabric attached as a second layer.
PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a type of synthetic plastic polymer that is often used in fabric to make it waterproof, lightweight, and durable. PVC-coated fabrics are commonly used for rain jackets, umbrellas, and outdoor furniture covers.
PE is the acronym for Poly Ethylene, a common plastic used in many consumer products and food storage containers. The real question is...is it BPA-free? and what type of PE is used (LDPE - Low Density Poly Ethylene or HDPE - High Density Poly Ethylene) and based on this, what small molecules may leach out when you put hot food on the plate or microwave it.
This coating is a polymeric material containing fluorine; the surface become hydrophobic.
