A prejudice is a belief about someone or something that is unfounded. Prejudices are based on preconceived notions or stereotypes, rather than fact or experience.

What is stereotye?

A stereotype is a generalized perception of first impressions: behaviors presumed by a group of people judging with the eyes/criticizing ones outer appearance (or a population in general) to be associated with another specific group. Stereotypes, therefore, can instigate predudice and false assumptions about entire groups of people, including the members of different ethnic groups, social classes, religious orders, the opposite sex, etc. A stereotype can be a conventional and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image, based on the assumption that there are attributes that members of the "other group" have in common.

Do you think that the American Government could have reacted in a different way to the situation with the Japanese Americans after the bombing of Pearl Harbor?

Certainly. The US Internment was illegal and immoral, a gross violation of civil rights and was inspired by wartime predudice, panic and hysteria. Gosh ! I find the above difficult to countenace. Particularly given the standards of the time. I think that it might do to compare the Japanese treatment of foreigners. What they did to British & Commonwealth POWs, not to even mention the indigenous populations of the territories they invaded does not bear comparison, does it ? & the above wants to think about civil rights in the 1940s............Yes, I accept that times are different now. But that was then: Gross violation of civil rights indeed !!!
