Stratus Clouds are clouds that cover large areas and form in layers.
Clouds are actually categorised into groups based on shape and size. Large puffy clouds are called cumulus or cumulonimbus
you will see Cumulonimbus clouds before a tornado which are large, dark, anvil-shaped clouds.
Cumulonimbus clouds are high clouds. The contain a large amount of moisture throughout and ice crystals at the top of the clouds. Strong convection currents and heavy winds are found in these clouds. Cumulonimbus clouds produce lightening and hail.

yes there are ice crystals in some certain types of cloud, like irrus, because it is so high up the water freezes.
It depends on the type of igneous rock. Intrusive igneous rocks such as granite have large crystals, extrusive igneous rocks may have small crystals as in basalt or no crystals as in pumice.
When magma coos slowly, it allows large crystals to form. The process of evaporation helps to form crystals.
