Remember this wedding is not about the parents, it is about their child and they are there to bear witness, show support, and ensure neither the groom nor the bride decide they have cold feet and vanish.
Traditionally the groom's parents are in charge for the rehearsal dinner, their own wedding attire (including the groom's), and the couple's gift. It really just depends on the brides and grooms families financial situation. That's something you want to get worked out at the beginning of planning your wedding, who is paying for what.
Many brides and grooms have wedding favors for their guests to thank them for attending. In addition, they are a souvenir of the event. Typical favors include Jordan almonds in pretty bags, matchbooks with an inscription, or even plastic wedding rings.

Nowhere to be seen in the official video: "Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" that's for sure. However, not surprising, given the collective narcissism of the K family.
The first event was the wedding.

You do not need event liability insurance for a big wedding. However, if the event is outside, then you may want to consider it. You should take out the insurance if it will give you comfort.
* Yes, the bride and groom can pay for their own wedding and the parents probably will give a sigh of relief. In these modern times sometimes there is just a single parent or parents who have come upon rough times and can't afford to give their daughter the wedding they would like and it's wonderful the bride and groom would pay for their own wedding to take the burden off their parents. Big, medium or small weddings are all wonderful and each one can still be a magical event for the bride and groom as well as the guests.
