Microorganisms which are allowed to grow on waste products from agro based industries produce a large amount of proteins and store them in their cell bodies. These organisms are called as single cell proteins.

As man shifted their diet from grains to meat, there was heavy demand on cereals to feed the cattle. thus an alternate source needed to be found to cater to the increasing demand.

Single cell protein is microbial biomass that is produced by the microorganisms and is not only rich in proteins but other minerals, fats carbohydrates vitamins also.

So this can supplement to the requirement for cattle feeding.

A cow weighing 250Kg can produce 200g of proteins/day but 250g of microorganism can produce tonnes of proteins in a very short time.

So don't you think its a great advantage to mankind.
