A smartwatch is basically like a smartphone strapped to your wrist, (usally) minus the ability to make phone calls, play Video Games, watch videos, and so on. Other than tell the time, it can be used to track your heart rate, distance travelled (using the builtin GPS) and show a bunch of other features. Of course there are some exceptions to this as there are a few smartwatches that are more geared towards the outdoorsy types that swaps out a few of the conventional features for others that would be much more useful, like maps, compasses, thermometers, and barometers.
