Typical afternoon snacks tend to be sweets, such as coffee accompanied by pastry, or a yogurth with fruit. It also can consist of savory snacks, like a small sandwich with a soda.
Generally, a snack in Spanish is called a MERIENDA, but if the person is eating a meal (meat, fish, eggs, etc.) this would be TAPAS.
