Actually, that is a word we don't use very often these days, although perhaps you saw it in literature somewhere. It means "exhilerating" or "energizing"-- something that revives or revitalizes a person. For example: "Most people think the water is much too cold for a swim, but Joe finds it bracing to go swimming in cold water."

There is another possible use of bracing, which could refer to putting a brace on something-- a device that supports a heavy object so that it won't weaken and fall.
