And you can also switch all other accounts on your IMAP and then you will be checking your email right on the server. And its not going to go anywhere from the server. Its going to have a copy on your local computer but it will also leave a copy on your server. Thats how gmail works and thats how yahoo works.

I'm not sure how to set it up on that individual client, but here's some important information: If it works with an IMAP (IMAP4) server, go to your Gmail settings, go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and make sure 'Enable IMAP' is selected. Click 'Save Changes.' If not, select 'Disable IMAP' and 'Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded).' (Receiving mail and custom folders) IMAP server: imap.gmail.com IMAP port: 995. (Receiving mail) POP server: pop.gmail.com POP port: 995 (Sending mail) SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com SMTP port: 465 (This is very important, as this is NOT the default port for SMTP)! If this is wrong, try Gmail>Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab>Configuration instructions. Hope this was helpful!
The IMAP protocol differs from the POP3 protocol is that the IMAP doesnt require the user to download all the emails to the PC to check for new emails. It is also much easier to distinguish between read and unread emails while using the IMAP as oppose to the POP3. Some other difference is the IMAP is that you can create multiple email accounts from the PC where as the POP3 requires new email accounts to be created on the server. Another difference is that with IMAP emails can be deleted directly through the server where as the POP3 emails are deleted on the PC.
