The diaphragm, a device that controls the light intake, similar to the aperture control, of the F-stops on a camera.. Iris is very rarely used with Cameras nowadays, the preferred term is diaphragm, aperture, or F-stop such as F-22 ( Bottom), F=-2.8, etc,It may still be used on Microscopes. do not confuse with nosepiece turrets.
