Assuming you mean the throttle position sensor. The throttle position sensors tells the engine computer when the throttle position has changed, it adjusts fuel flow to match the throttle opening. If the throttle position sensor fails then the engine computer has to depend only on the MAP sensor to define air flow thus how to adjust the fuel flow. I would expect then that response time would be slower than when the throttle position sensor works correctly.
On a Chevy Celebrity it might also turn on the check engine light and post either a code 21 or a code 22.
The TPS (throttle position sensor) has gone bad on your throttle body.
When Throttle Position sensor is bad when you step on pedal and it does not move, engine light is on!
The OBD code p1221 indicates a bad throttle position sensor. Sometimes cleaning the throttle body will clear this code. If that does not work the sensor will need to be replaced.
crank sensor bad, MAF sensor bad, dirty throttle body, idle air control valve
A bad throttle sensor can cause engine jerking and rough running. A test of the computer codes should show if there seems to be a problem with the sensor.
A throttle positioning sensor reads your throttle body to see how much your pressing the gas basicly. So if its bad the engine runs up and down not knowing exactly how much peddle is being pushed.
Either the throttle cable is bad, broken. newer cars have a throttle body sensor. (TPS). This part could go bad as well.
pull the sensor off and try just running throttle body and if there is no difference, the sensor is bad. if it will not run or acts up without the sensor, then the sensor is good
there is a throttle position sensor on the firewall side of the throttle body. unplug it, and see if the engine runs the same. if it runs the same then, yes you do have a bad throttle body, and if it does not run the same, i would suggest having the engine looked at to figure out what the problem is
You can tell if you have a bad throttle body by reading the error codes with an OBD II reader. The throttle body can also be examined for leaks or linkage issues.
Had the same problem. Throttle Body Sensor was bad and needed to be replaced.
THE TPS-THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR IS BAD,IT IS LOCATED ON RIGHT SIDE OF THROTTLE BODY AS YOU LOOK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT,IT WILL BE BLACK WITH ONE ELEC.PLUG.
