Tacos are delicious;Mmmmm
The Tuskegee Project has absollutely nothing to do with tacos and whether or not they are delicious. It was a study that began in 1932 and did not end until 1972. It was a study of venerial disease on the African americam male. These men who had siphilis (excuse my crap spelling) were not told anything about the study or its purpose. They thought that they were being tested for "bad blood" in the beginning of the study, and over the duration they thought that they were getting free medical care. These were men in extremely impovershed rural areas who "had never seen a doctor before" and would not know if they were being mistreated by one. How could they? This study was conducted for nearly forty years. Hundreds of men were left untreated and unaware of important information that was their right to have. They transmitted this disease to many women and in turn several of their children had it at birth. This kind of experamentation on humans (and animals) is inhumane and evil; the people who conducted this experement knew this and continued on with it. They made sure that these individuals received no tresatment even when new and better treatments for the disease were made available. It is something reminiscent of a Dr. Mengele. Perhaps you have heard of him. He performed horrific experements on people in his concentration camp during the Holocaust.

The phrase that best describes Miss Rivers' Lodge is the one that calls it a health care experiment at Tuskegee University. Miss Eunice Rivers, RN, was a local nurse who worked on the project called the Tuskegee Untreated Syphilis Study.
