Acids don't actually melt metal, they oxidize or corrode them. Usually producing the corresponding metal salt and hydrogen gas.
Most strong acids (hydrochloric, hydrobromic, hydroiodic, perchloric, nitric, and sulfuric acids) will oxidize metals in this manner. Some weak acids such as hydrofluoric acid can oxidize metals. Some metals, such as the alkali metals and alkaline earth metals will react with virtually any acid and even water.
Nitric acid can oxidize copper, which normally doesn't react with acid.
Aqua regia, a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid will oxidize gold and platinum, which are usually considered immune to corrosion.
Acid doesn't melt metal it oxidizes (corrodes) it.
What acid you need depends on the metal. Though a strong acid such as sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid will usually work.
The reaction between an acid and a metal is an example of a single-replacement reaction.
Corrosion is the type of reaction between metals and acids.
If gold gets hot enough, it will melt. What type of change is this?
The reaction between a metal and acids is a characteristic for each pair metal-acid; the study of this type of reactions improve our knowledge about the chemical properties of metals and very important technologically - information about the resistance to corrosion in acidic media.
hydrogen gas is liberated when an acid reacts with a metal. The equation is as follows acid + metal=salt + h2
A salt. The type of salt depends on the type of acid.
that would be a acid-metal oxide reaction see related link for more info
Sulfuric acid produces sulfates when it reacts with metals.
This depends on the rate of heating, pressure, and type of metal. Unless all are supplied, time can't be acquired.
my hypothesis is that actually the type of liquid does affect it. take, juice, water, and soda for an example the soda will melt ice the fastest because it has acid the acid will melt the ic faster than all the others.yes.if its black it will take in more heat and the ice cube will melt
Carbon Dioxide
Acid
Metal Gear Acid is a turn based collectible card video game. It was released in 2004 in Japan and is the first game in the Metal Gear franchise to be made for PSP.
any container made from gass, metal, wood, or stone
The reaction between an acid and a metal is an example of a single-replacement reaction.
there are many many acidic corosive materials. you will need to be more specific as in what type of acid the magnesium is reacting with. i assume you are at school and are talking about hydrochloric acid. If you add Magnesium metal to hydrochloric acid , the Magnesium will dissolve and form bubbles of hydrogen gas.
Mercury is neither an acid nor a base. It is simply a metal which becomes a liquid when kept at room temperature.
