your shotgun was made for High Standard /Sears Roebuck by Harrington & Richardson in 1945 It first appeared in the spring Sears catalog 1946 .Your gun is gun is what is known as as a pre model 10 thes guns are very scarce and the few JC Higgins collectors out there pay highly for ones in good shape Its basicly a H&R model 120 Sears bought the rights to manufacture these guns in 1946. In 1948/49 High Standard took over manufacture of these guns and they became Known as the J C Higgins model 10. .The early ones like yours are quite rare..They are excellent shotguns

I believe you have a JC Higgins model 101.1 This should be a single shot 12 ga. It was made by Savage as the Savage model 94. They were made between 1926 and 1945
