Average temperature:

The average temperature in Antarctica is -50°C (-58°F).

Annual rainfall:

It does not rain in Antarctica because it is so cold and water vapor is frozen out of the air. Although it does not rain, precipitation DOES occur in the form of frost and occasional light snowfall. The interior averages about 2 inches (50 mm) a year, making Antarctica a desert.

Temperatures in Antarctica can reach a minimum of between −80 °C (−112 °F) and −90 °C (−130 °F) in the interior in winter and reach a maximum of between 5 °C (41 °F) and 15 °C (59 °F) near the coast in summer.
Antarctica covers 10% of the Earth's surface, and is about as large as USA and Mexico, combined.

The lowest temperature recorded on Earth was recorded on Antarctica, at Vostok Station in 1983: -- −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F; 184.0 K). You can find it using 78.4645° S, 106.8340° E.

In January 2015, what may be the highest temperature ever recorded on Antarctica -- 63.5 degrees Fahrenheit (17.5 Celsius). was recorded near Bernardo O'Higgins station, located at 63.3218° S, 57.8975° W.

There is no easily determined "average" for either temperature or rainfall.

Australia is a huge continent covering a variety of weather and climatic conditions. Temperatures and rainfall patterns in the north will vary considerably from those in the south. Similarly, temperatures and rainfall anywhere along the coast will be greatly different from those inland.
