I cannot find a metaphor. However, there is a similie "he spread his canvas on the ground like a blanket" when they are discussing Jimmy Fargo's father setting up his painting area. Sorry, I don't recall the chapter. If you find a metaphor, please let me know. I've read the book four times over the past 3 days and can't find one!
Two examples of similes in "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" are when Peter describes Fudge's tantrum as "screaming like a jet taking off" and when he compares Fudge to a missile. A metaphor in the book is when Peter describes the baby, Fudge, as a "rug rat" to express his annoyance.
Its a book for children and its fiction there is really no purpose.
