Many, if not most, of the babies born in a year are taken as prey before they reach one year of age. Once the snakes are in their second year they stand a better chance of surviving and can live for 20 years or more.

a pet rattle snake can live up to 5 years but it you look after it REALLLY WELL then it will live up to 10 years :D

If properly kept, a rattlesnake in captivity can live for 20 years or more. In the wild it would be considerably less due to predation and other dangers faced by the snakes in the wild.
