There are many types of trains performing many different jobs.
Inter city passenger trains run at high speed for long distances. Speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour are common.
Local passenger trains run slower with shorter distances between stops. Speeds between 30mph and 60 mph are common.
City based mass transit trains (the London Underground and the NY Subway for example) will often travel at lower speeds because of the frequent stops.
Goods trains tend to be slower than passenger trains but often will reach speeds of 50 mph or more for long runs.
In the first decade they were lucky to go at 6 mph, in the last decade freights were moving at between 25 and 35 mph ... but passenger trains were often above 60 and a few record runs of 100 mph were made.
The average speed of a freight train depends on the area. Regardless, the average speed of one in the U.S. can be no faster than 60 mph.
It probalary should be around 224 MPH.. or 386 km. _______________________________________________________ whoa, way too fast. It's an algebra problem. Three equations Vp x time = 400km Vf x time = 330km Vp=Vf+14 km/hr and three unknowns (the time, and speed of each type of train). I used substituion, targeting an equation with only time. Long story short it solved to 5 hours (which makes sense after I did all that work and figured out that the additional 70km would take a train that is 14km faster...five hours to cover). Knowing the freight train can go 330km in 5 hrs (eq #2), it's speed is 330/5 or 66km/hr.knowing passenger train can go 440km in five hours (eq 1), it's speed is 400/5 or 80km/hr. ...and those speeds are 14km/hr apart, so we know we're good.

Train a Grande Vitesse (High speed train)TGV stands for Train à Grande Vitesse (high-speed train)
A TGV test train set the record for the fastest wheeled train, reaching 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph) on 3 April 2007.The TGV (French: Train à Grande Vitesse, meaning high-speed train)
The name of the train is often called the TGV or Train à Grande Vitesse which translates in English to"High-Speed Train".

passenger train and freight train run on same track then freight train speed is bw 30-35km/h if a seprate route is developed for fright train then speed could be hiked to 70-80 km/h .in these route in these route beside single stack contanair we can use double sack .so three time speed and double freight transport in one unit of time.
This question is complicated to answer. It depends on a number of factors. For one, it depends on what type of train it is. A freight train, for example, can take over 2 miles to completely stop. It also depends on what speed the train is going.
The freight train was running late.We need to be on the next freight train.
Passenger train speed + 50 mph Freight train speed = 34mph V(passenger) = V(freight) + 16mph Vp x Time = 250mi. Vf x Time = 170mi. therefore... a. [Vf + 16] x T = 250 b. Vf x T = 170 Subtract b. from a. 16T = 80 Time = 5 hours Vp = 250/5 = 50 mph Vf = 170/5 = 34 mph
The average freight train is about 1 to 1.25 miles in length (90 to 120 rail cars). When it's moving at about 55 miles an hour, it can take a mile or more to stop However, in an emergency its about 300 feet
A freight train carries cargos and sometimes food, depending on what the cargo is. a freight train does not transport passengers.
A freight train is a railroad train designed for the work of transporting goods.
A train that carries goods is called a freight train.
