It depends on preference, most people say either the Skull Dagger or the Cleaver, though. But if you are a box buyer you can get a really good sword that is named as 'Backsword'. You can only get it from the box thogh with clothes. This sword is not tradable and DOES NOT AGE. I've only seen a few people who have it. (and skellies)

The sword with the highest attack is the Hypernova sword. HOWEVER, it is a pain to obtain. First, you must find the Stardust Sword in a pretty high rank grotto. Then, you must alchemize it up to the Nebula sword. After that try to alchemize it again, and it will either be a Supernova sword or the Hypernova sword. It's a 10 - 40 percent chance to be the Hypernova, depending on your main character's strength.

However the 'best' sword is the Uber Falcon Blade, for the simple fact that it allows you to hit twice - four times with Falcon Slash, with no reduction in damage unlike other multi-hit moves like Multistrike or Fan Dango. Any character with a Strength of over 140 will do more damage with an Uber Falcon Blade, than with a Hypernova Sword.

I guess it depends: if you are looking for a really epic sword with a fair amount of damage, try The Illumina.

If you are looking for a deadly sword with a lot of damage, and the ability to transfer your opponent's life to you, try the Darkheart.

If you are really into daggers, try the Icedagger. Being my all-time favorite, it freezes the opponent on contact and then shatters them into pieces (instant kill).

It really depends on what is your fighting style. If you think you are the type to go rushing into a duel, you will probably need the Darkheart's healing system. An honorable duel will probably look cool with the Illumina. And the Icedagger is for someone who can manage with the shorter blade.
