The Best starter for the game is Turtwig mainly because it becomes a mighty Torterra with Ground and Grass types. Teach it Earthquake, Synthesis, Leafstorm and Crunch

If you have Pokemon battle revolution like me you would know that you can get a Surfing Pikachu at the end of the game. USE THIS PIKACHU IN YOUR ULTIMATE PARTY!!! It will know Surf and Volt Tackle, and will also be holding a light ball. Evolve it into Raichu and let it know; Iron Tail, Volt Tackle, Surf and Earthquake

Also use the riolu you get through the story mode on the island called Iron Island. When it evolves into Lucario, teach it Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse and Flashcannon.

Blissey is a major 'wow' factor. If you teach it the right moves Blissey can be one of the best Pokemon Pokemon in the world. These are the moves you teach it. Double team, Thunder Wave, Shock Wave and Softboiled. Firstly use Thunder Wave on opponent (If rock or Ground type Pokemon, SWICH OUT!!!) then use double team about 5 times. Then keep on using shock wave until defeat (shock wave will never miss, good because blissey has low accuracy stat)

Staraptor is one of the strongest bird Pokemon you may ever come across. Brave bird is one of the most amazing bird moves ever. Teach it the moves Brave Bird, Close Comeback, Take Down and Endeavor.

Gyarados is the strongest Water Pokemon i have ever seen in my life. If you teach Gyarados the right moves it could become one of the strongest Pokemon EVER. Teach it Hydro Pump, Flamethrower, Outrage and Thrash.

If you can't get the surfing pikachu try using a Spiritomb with the moves. Hypnosis, Dark Pulse, Dream Eater and Sucker Punch

Lugia - Aeroblast (8pp), Dragon Pulse, Hydro Pump, Physic (Leftovers)

Tyranitar - Stone Edge (8pp), Dark Pulse, Hyper Beam, Rock Slide (Hard Rock)

Marowak - Bomerang, Earthquake, Headbutt, Bone Rush (Hard Bone)

Typhlosion - Blast Burn, Earthquake, Flamethrower, Solar Beam (Charcoal)

Lapras - Surf, Ice Beam, Avalanche, Body Slam (Nevermelt Ice)

Bellossom - Giga Drain, Magical Leaf, Leaf Storm, Sludge Bomb (Miracle Seed)

No weaknesses, all high stats and good moves - I never lost a battle with this party

It all depends on what you choose to be the best all though the most obvious best party is a team of legendary pokemon. - Not always.

There is no best team, just Pokemon that are supereffective against the gym leaders.

I've done it with five before. Charizard, dragonite, jolteon, clefable, gyarados. These are all powerful Pokemon and need allot of training so its best only with five.
