What is the best starter pokemon in pokemon platium?

probaly chimchar but then u hav to evolve it so that it can learn match punch and then beat the first,second......well for water (WAKE) just catch and i guess evolve to look cool...a ROSELIA......so.....uhu! chimchar!

I personally think it's Turtwig. That way, you have your grass Pokemon already and it will grow really strong. It's easier to get a good fire or water Pokemon early on in the game. For example you could get a Shellos and a Ponyta early on in the game.

I used Turtwig all the way to the end, Torterra ended up being on my hall of fame.

They all have advantages and disadvantages.

Piplup isn't very good at the beginning, but its cute.

But as Piplup evolves, it becomes ALOT better, as it has alot less weaknesses.

Chimchar is good, and it probably stays that way as the game goes on.

So, you can take the easy bet, and start off with a good Pokemon and know it will continue to be good.

Turtwig is the best at the beginning, but as it evolves it gains more weaknesses.

As it evolves, this means it will become quite bad.

Overall, your best bet would be Piplup, but go with the one you like the most!

If you train it well, who cares whether its weak, because it wont matter.

On one of the older games, I chose a bad Pokemon, and i trained it to be indestructable (i cant spell!) I hope I helped.

I personally cant choose, because I know I want to go with Turtwig, but i also like Piplup. And I think chimchar is cool.

depends on taste (for me, Chimchar. Infernape has level 4 attack, sp attack, and speed), but statistically piplup is the best. its stats are rounded out the best (attack, defense, sp attack, speed 4. 3 speed). it goes up by one each time it evolves. (prinplup 4,4,3,3,3. empolleon 5,5,4,3,4)

you should choose a fire type Pokemon because fire is bugs weakness, I have played Pokemon on Dsi and this is what will really help. However try to keep your strongest Pokemon for the end because the league master is really hard, I couldn't beat her without cheats.

Chimchar is my personal favourite starter, also there are few fire pokemon in sinnoh.

Chimchar fully evolved has immense Attack an Special Attack, as well as great Speed stats, which makes it a great sweeper.

But if your looking for something with more defence stats, Turtwig would be ideal and its final evolution has an uncommon type combination (Grass, Ground) which has its advantages (Ground cancels the 2x damage on grass) but, also has a disadvantage (Ice has 4x damage)

But also if you want an all-rounded pokemon Piplup has controlled stats across the board. When Piplup fully evolves into Empolion (Spell check please =P) it gains the steel type as well as water whic is an interesting combination.

My opinion would be to go with Chimchar, but as its your game you decide =)

Infernape - Fire/Fighting - Easy throughout.

Torterra - Grass/Ground - Harder to begin with but as it evolves becomes easier.

Empolion - Water/Steel - Interesting moveset, but in my opinion toughest starter to raise
