What to build on mindcraft?

I hope you mean "game mode". Well their currently is only three game modes you can play at the moment in 1.3.2.

Option 1: Survival

Described: Search for resources, crafting, gain levels, health and hunger.

Objective: (obviously) Survive

Option 2: Hardcore

Described: Same as survival mode, locked at highest difficulty, and one life only.

Objective: Survive and don't die.

Option 3: Creative

Described: Unlimited resources, free flying and destroy blocks instantly.

Objective: Let your creativity out!

It depends what you mean. If you mean build as in craft, then a pickaxe. If you mean build as in build a building, then a house is easily most important.
