Well, you have to consider a few things here, such as...

  • Your budget
  • What you're looking for
  • What you want the handgun for (defense, target shooting, etc)

If you've got a budget of $200 or less, a Hi Point is going to be the best value available to you. If you have more of a budget, your options are more open. For such a low end handgun, the High Point offers something other than the weak rounds fired from unlocked breech pistols which that sort of budget has traditionally been limited to. It's not the best choice of handgun, but it's available, and the company stands behind their product. When your life is on the line, reliability should be the most important factor in how you assess value. If, on the other hand, you're only going to use it to punch holes in paper, you can live with a firing or ejection failure every so often.
