The composition depends on the type of sandstone it was previously, but in this case, 'Metaquartzite' most regularly refers to the metamorphosis of Orthoquartzite which is pure quartz. The crystals in the resulting rock are equal in size, and thus the texture is even. The composition of Quartz itself is Silica which is SiO2.
