Vulcanization is a chemical process (invented by Charles Goodyear in 1839, patented in 1844), which combined with heat and sulphur, causes polymeric molecules form atomic "bridges" of sulphur or carbon-carbon bonds with other molecules. The once loose, polymer chains are now constrained in mobility due to the chemical cross-linking between polymer chains. This cross-linking is what gives polymers their distinctive properties.
Goodyear was mixing rubber and sulfur in an attempt to weatherize rubber and keep it from rotting. One day he went into a general store in Woburn, Massachusetts to show off a new rubber. As he was waving it in the air, a piece flew of and landed on a sizzling-hot potbellied stove. After he peeled a piece off the stove, he realized he had accidentally made what he was trying to develop. The process is called vulcanization of rubber. So then he took it and found out that it was much stronger than the regular rubber! So he became famous from an accident and now he has a patent for vulcanized rubber!
Charles Goodyear not discovered rubber but the rubber vulcanization. In 1839, at 39 years.
Some historians of science consider that vulcanization is known from the antiquity.
vulcanized rubber was invented by Charles Goodyear
he dis covered a process called volcanization for more information go to Charles goodyear wikipedia
He invented vulcanized rubber because normal rubber did not withstand extreme temperatures. This discovery was accidental.

Charles GOODYEAR
vulcanization process of rubber and vulcanization process of rubber.
Charles Goodyear is known for inventing the vulcanization of rubber.
It was made in the cold february of 1839 by Charles goodyear
The process of vulcanization was developed by Charles Goodyear in the early 19th century. He discovered that by heating natural rubber with sulfur, it became more durable and resistant to heat and cold. This discovery revolutionized the rubber industry and made rubber a widely used material.
Sulphur (or the different spelling, Sulfur) was added to rubber to form the process of vulcanization.
