Temperatures in Alberta can fluctuate a great deal. In the summer months it can be cool to hot ranging from 3C (37F) to almost 40C (104F). In the winter temperatures vary just as much with occasional highs in parts of the province of 14C (57F) down to -40C (-40F).

Alberta is a landlocked province with comparatively few bodies of water. The climate tends to be more on the dry side in the southern part of the province and more temperate in the central part.

Calgary's has a semi-arid continental climate with long and dry winters (temperatures vary greatly) and short, moderate summers.

Calgary sometimes experiences Chinooks in the Winter which can raise the temperature from -20 degrees celsius to 10 degrees celsius. These usually last a day or two and melt most of the winter snow.

Canada's province with the most black grassland soil?

The term Grasslands generally refer to the Prairies located in the lower half of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Very little original grasslands are left today. Just as Canada cut down the rain-forest and now calls anything that grows in it's place rainforest, they also cleared the grasslands of bison and natural vegetation for farming and yet still call the area grasslands.
