eldest is about how eragon goes to the eleves to inhance his traning as a rider. When he reaches them he finds out that there is another rider there to teach him the secrets of the past riders during his stay there he is sufering from the cursed wound that the shade durva left him with in the prevous book. but during one of the eleves celbrations he is transformed in to an elve and his heald of his wound shortly after he hears the varden are are about to go to war and goes to help them. MEANWILE roarn eragons cuosin is in carvhall when the razak apear roarn asks the villegers to fight back with him and they do and win later roarn gets engaged to catreena then she gets captured by the razak then roaran makes the villagers leave and seek refuge in surda when they were bound to be over whelbed by galbatorecses soldiers but they dont know that they are about to go to the vardens war.

Murtagh becomes a Dragon Rider and in the Battle of the Burning Plains, he takes Zar'roc and reveals he is Eragon's brother.
