Filter sterilisation of animal cell culture
sorry, i don't know the answer about that question. but i only know that filtration is commonly the mechanical or physical operation which is used for the separation of solids from fluids (liquids or gases) by interposing a medium through which only the fluid can pass, while decantation is a process for the separation of mixtures. :)
Filtration is more efficient but decantation is a very simple and cheap method.
The larger and heavier solid particles settle down leaving the clear liquid above it. ... At the same time, during decantation, there is a chance of the particles mixing back in the liquid. The filtration technique can be used to overcome this as well. Thus, filtration is better than sedimentation and decantation.
Decantation is pouring off a substance into another container, leaving the sediment behind. Filtration is pouring a substance through a filter to catch any sediment.
Another way of separating sand and water aside from decantation is filtration.
Five examples of separation are: filtration, distillation, decantation, ion exchange, centrifugation.
Methods of separation are: decantation, filtration, sieving, electromagnetic, centrifugation, distillation, ion exchange, gravitational system, elutriation, radiometric sorting, zone refining, sublimation and many others.
Both decantation and filtration can be effective methods, but they are used for different substances. Decantation is used for solutions that can be separated and filtration is used for solutions with thicker particles that can be filtered out.

Separation by decantation and filtration.

decantation, centrifugation, filtration, and evaporation.
Filtration quickly removes suspended sediment from a liquid; decantation allows sediment to settle to the bottom of a container over a period of time.
There are several terms for removing solids from a liquid: filtration, settling, decantation or sedimentation.
Water can be separated from sand by decantation or simple filtration.
Examples: filtration, decantation, centrifugation.
