Dustfinger gets read back to his world by a man named Orpheus. Meggie and Farid read themselves into inkheart. Meggie did it to see the ink world, Farid did it to warn Dustfinger that Basta was back in the ink world. Orpheus reads Mortola, Basta, Resa and Mo into the ink world and Mortola shot Mo in the chest. Mo gets cared for by strolling players and robbers but not for long. Meggie finds out her fathers been shot and looks for him. The soldiers of the Castle of Night come for Mo because they think he is a robber called the Bluejay. He's taken prisoner in the castle of night and is still seriously injured. Meggie, Dustfinger and Farid go after them. The soldiers have also taken the strolling players and robbers as prisoners. The Adderhead makes Mo and Meggie bind a book to make him immortal. The Adderhead is born a son and he sets the prisoners free after Mo has bound the book. The Adderhead is now immortal and Mo takes the name Bluejay and becomes a robber. Farid was killed by Basta and Dustfinger exchanges his life for his. Meggie reads Orpheus into the ink world to somehow bring Dustfinger back to life and Farid follows Orpheus as his slave as he waits for Orpheus to write the words that bring Dustfinger back to life.
I can't remember exactly but I think it's something like:
Farid dies and so dustfinger gives his life for him like an old folk song. The tale is that 'one day a fire eaters son will die and the fire eater will call the white women and trade his life for his son, the fire eater will have to entertain the white women with fire forever'. Anyway, Ffarid is ob
viously devestated and so calls 'Orpheus' (Another man who can read things into and out of books without other things disappearing too- he is one of the best'silver tounges!') I think it stops there, but read it for yourself it's seriously worth it. I might have fone into Inkdeath a bit there. Soeey if I have.
Hope this helps.
There is a big fight involving most of the main characters and Basta stabs Farid to death so Mo kills Basta. When the battle has finished Dustfinger asks the White Women (who control death) to bring Farid back to life but kill him instead. So when Farid wakes up to find Dustfinger dead he asks for a reader called Orpheus to come into the story to bring him back to life. Also, Roxane starts to really hate Farid.
The conflict is more of trying to save dustfinger... but it dosnt work :( but Mo is captured and meggie has to save him O:... this should conjour up some extra detailed thoughts on the book :)
ANOTHER ANSWER:
The conflict is how to govern the words that one speaks into being and the harm these words can do . . . and once the harm is done, how to lessen the impact or 'back-track' in order to 'heal' the harm. Basically it is a play on 'foreign affairs', the role and importance of 'ambassadors' and embassies in a world divided into differing 'camps' . . . hence the importance and value of those who have the 'gift' of 'creating' beneficial outcomes through their words - namely a good orator.
In the beginning it takes place in Elinors house and in the rest of the book takes place in Inkheart
