Microwaved foods tend to have hot and cold spots. Microwaves do not heat evenly, like conventional ovens do. Some parts of the food could be hot enough to scald your mouth, and other parts could be uncooked (leading to the danger of eating unsafe food).

The jury is still out on that and we may find out more about it in the years to come. The dangers may be divided into direct harm from overheated food causing burns to the mouth and esophagus by direct heat, harm from microwaves to human tissue, and then denaturing of food from exposure to microwaves. One thing that I would like to stress to people is to read the instructions that come with their microwave device. I am quite sure that most people do not read any of it at all because I see almost everyone open the door to retrieve their snack only a fraction of a second after the bell rings when you are instructed to wait at least two minutes. You may not see the microwaves radiating off your food, but they do lots of damage to your body as you swallow that 'nuked' food.
