It's basically asking what the definition of a responding variable is and the dictionary says, The variable that changes.

The variable is the part that is changed in the experiment; the constants are the parts that stay the same.
For a standardized variable, each case's value on the standardized variable indicates it's difference from the mean of the original variable in number of standard.
