In its widest sense, a drama is any work designed to be presented by actors. It is a real or fictional depiction of characters and events presented to an audience.

More commonly in modern usage, a drama is a serious (non-comedic) performance in a play, a movie, or a televised production. It is sometimes applied to real-life events that have a similar serious nature, such as a trial or a disaster.

Drama is mostly acting, and expressing feelings. There are many types of drama, including:

  • Improvisation or pretense,
  • Role Playing,
  • Mime (uses only signs, symbols, and body language to pass on a message),
  • Puppet plays (uses puppets to do and say things),
  • Performance Poetry (act out a story from a poem),
  • Radio Drama (almost the same as script reading, with the addition of other sound affects - the painting of the mental picture is important)
