Software Utilities are specifically designed to help the end-user manage and tune the computer hardware/Software, Operating system or application software and perform as single precise task as opposed to application software which performs multi-tasking. Utility software can be seen in many operating systems to day e.g. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X etc. Examples of some of the commonly used utility software may include the following; Disk Defragmentation System Profile/Status Virus Scanners Text Editor Archive e.g. Winrar Compression Encryption Application Launchers
