You can do rythmic gymnastics in the Olympics, it is just another form of gymnastics, olympic gymnastics can be any form of gymnastics performed at the olympic games.

Competitive gym is where you do competitions and try to win amid a group of other gymnasts. Compulsory gymnastics is has levels of gymnastics that you must complete in order to qualify for some competitions.

After the 1996 Olympics, compulsory was taken out. which means that you compete with a required routine which is the same as every other competitor. School uses compulsory while the Olympics now, use optional routines which means that you have a different routine than every one else.
