vertical drill machine is only specified for drilling only whereas various job can be done by using Lathe machine. in lathe machine the job rotates, on the contrary in drilling machine the spindle rotates. Relatively high speed can be given in drilling machine than lathe machine.

Milling in a lathe can be two things:A cutter is gripped in the chuck and a workpiece the the tool post. The work piece is then milled by using the feed on the lathe. The ones that i use at college and work are a milling machine, a lathe, a drill, and a saw but i think the main ones (In mechanical engineering) are the Milling Machine and the Lathe.

All lathes could be considered "centre lathes." You turn "between centers." There's also a tool called a "machining center," but those are for computerized milling, normally of metal.
They both have; spindles, bedways, automatic feeds, work holding equipment, although these vary between machines, both can use digital readout, coolant supply, both have heads - where the gears and spindle are housed. I'm certain I've miss out loads but i would be here forever.
