The magnetic domains in a refrigerator magnet are laid down in parallel strips.

They are also re-curved back on themselves so that the back side of the magnet has both north and south poles.

If you put two refrigerator magnets back-to-back and move them around a little, it won't take long for you to "feel" the strips of magnetism.

The common bar magnet have two simple poles at the ends.

How is an electromagnet different from a refrigerator magnet?

A refrigerator magnet is magnetic because it is a "permanent" magnet. An electromagnet is a magnetic field caused by a current flowing through a wire.

What is the magnetic field of an electromagnet similar to?

a bar magnet...

What is the average voltage of an electromagnet?

a magnet does not have any voltage, only a magnetic field.

How is an electromgnet and a bar magnet different?

The bar magnet is what is termed a permanent magnet . This means that it is "always on" and can be used to do things like pick up paper clips. The electromagnet is created by winding a coil of wire about a ferromagnetic core and running a direct current through that coil. Only when the current is flowing will the electromagnet be operating. With the current switched off, the magnetic field around the coil of wire disappears, and the power of the electromagnetic disappears as well. There are some "fine points" associated with a further extension of this post, but the basic answer to the question is as written.A bar magnet is made from magnet materials and has a magnetic field at all times. An electromagnetic is not naturally magnet and only has a magnetic field when electricity is passed through it.

How does coiling a wire affect the magnetic field generated an electromagnet?

Coiling a wire increases the magnetic field of an electromagnet because the magnetic field around a wire is circular and perpendicular to the wire. Each turn of the wire reinforces the field of the one next to it. The magnet field is strengthened. (I was in A+, too ;) ) - Dawn Ayers

What is difference between of Electromagnet and Electric Magnetic Field?

An electromagnet is a magnet that only generates magnetic forces when electricity is running through it, basically a magnet that can be turned on and off. An electromagnetic field is the magnetic force generated when an electromagnet is used.

How is an electromagnet different from a regular a magnet?

An magnet is a material or object that creates a magnetic field. Bar magnets constantly create their magnetic field, while electromagnets are coils that only produce a magnetic field when an electric current passes through it.
