The difference between an English crayfish and an American crayfish is the English crayfish grows to about 3 inches long. It is red- brown in color. It's claws has a turquois and white blotch on the edge of the claw. The American crayfish grows to about 6 inches long. This crayfish is much larger and it's claws are red underneath.
For starters, it's crawfish. I'm from the south. That's how we spell/say "crayfish". Anyway, crawfish and lobster are very different! Crawfish do not live in the sea like lobster. Crawfish have a nickname. Which is, the mud bug. They live in muddy water. Possibly swamps. Lobster are ALWAYS bigger. Crawfish have less meat on them. But they tend to be put in spicy spices when doing a crawfish boil or party.
It's crawfish, not CRAYFISH and not Crawdad. Please don't ever call it that and you'll be fine. It does go by an additional generic title: Supper.
