I don't think you can separate the two, really, as they are both essential food groups. Grains are important as a source of carbohydrates - that which our body uses most as an energy. Not having enough grains - especially whole grains - in your diet can be seriously detrimental to your health.
Equally important are vegetables, as they provide all sorts of essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function properly.
