a planet is much larger than a moon. sometimes a planet can have many moons but a moon can only have 1 planet. the moon orbits the planet but the planet orbits a star (such as the sun) ect.

∙ 15y agoA planet has recently been defined as: a body that orbits a sun, has cleared its immediate orbital neighborhood of planetessimals, is massive enough to assume a round shape but not so massive as to begin thermonuclear fusion (then it becomes a sun). A moon is an object that orbits a planet, the Moon is specifically Earth's moon.
