A terminating decimal is a decimal that ends like 3.5 or 7.819. A non terminating or Repeating decimal is a decimal that does not end. Instead is goes on forever like 1/3 which is .3 repeating. Pi is another exaple of a non terminating decimal.

Terminating and nonterminating decimal?

a terminating decimal is one that has an end like 1/2 is 0.5 nonterminating does not end like 1/3 is 0.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333... where there are an infinite number of 3s on the end. 1/4 is 0.25 so it is also terminating pi is a nonterminating number it is 3.14159265359... it also doesn't have a set pattern to go by so its not only a nonterminating decimal, but it is an irrational number. Hope that helps

What is the definition for a non terminating decimal?

Nonterminating Decimal: A decimal that continues without end.For example:The square root of 2 = 1.414213562… Therefore, the square root of 2 is a nonterminating decimal.

What are terminating and non terminating numbers in rational numbers?

Terminating numbers are decimal representations of rational numbers. Nonterminating numbers may or may not be rational numbers.

What is a non-terminating number?

A nonterminating number does not end. An example is the fraction 1/3. When written as a decimal, it is a nonterminating number. Also pi is a nonterminating number. Some nonterminating numbers are repeating, some are nonrepeating. But they just don't end.

What's the definition for a non-terminating decimal?

non-terminatind decimal: a decimal numeral that does not end in an infinite sequence ofzeros ( contrasted with terminating decimal). terminating decimal: a decimal numeral in which, after a finite number of decimalplaces, all succeeding place values are 0, as 1 / 8 = 0.125 (contrasted with nonterminating decimal).

What is the difference between a terminating decimal and a repeating decimal?

i really dont know

What real number is nonterminating and a nonrepeating decimal?

The only real number that is non-terminating and non-repeating is Pi (pie)

What is the difference between repeateing and terminating decimals?

A terminating decimal is something like .25, where a repeating decimal is something like 1/3

What is the difference between terminating and non-terminating decimals?

A terminating decimal is a number whose decimal representation stops (or terminates) after a finite number of places. For example, 2.5, 2.3345688756 or even 325.452222222 A non-terminating decimal is one that goes on forever.

What is nonterminating?

Terminating means coming to an end so non-terminating means not ending. A non-terminating decimal may either consist of repeating sets of digits (such as in the decimal representation of some rational numbers eg 3/7 = 0.428571 428571 428571 ...) or a random sequence of digits (as in the decimal representation of an irrational number).

What is the differencce between a terminating and a repeating decimal?

A terminating decimal is a decimal that ends. A repeating decimal is a decimal that goes on and on.

Does the sum of a repeating decimal and a terminating decimal equal a terminating decimal?

No, the sum of a repeating decimal and a terminating decimal is never a terminating decimal.
